Quality Improvement Plan

Continuous quality improvement plans are vital to our home. It provides us an opportunity to demonstrate to the residents, families staff and public that we take our role as caregivers seriously by continually seeking ways to improve in all aspects of our home. It helps us demonstrate our dedication to providing personalized, high-quality care for our residents.

The members of our CQI Committee are as follows:

  • Lori Johnson – Director of Food Services
  • Laurie Smith – Director of Recreation
  • Laura Denomme – Assistant Director of Resident Care
  • Amber Forrester – Acting Director of Residential Care

POLICY               

It is the Policy of Kingsway Lodge Limited to have a Continuous Quality Improvement Program that encompasses all departments.

PURPOSE               

The purpose of Kingsway’s Lodge’s Continuous Quality Improvement Program is to monitor and evaluate the quality of resident care, volunteer, and staff service, to identify and resolve problems, to improve processes, to take action with follow-up to ensure Continuous Quality Improvement in Resident Care, Volunteer and Staff Service.

Within this context, our facility has in place:

  • ECQI computer program to monitor indicators, collecting and analyzing data and information over time.
  • Processes to minimize all internal and external risks where possible to resident, staff, volunteer and volunteers and visitors
  • Evaluation processes for residents, staff, and volunteers
  • Each dept has its own separate CQI program

Our priority areas for quality improvement are but not limited to the following;

  • Resident, staff and visitors’ well-being
  • Falls
  • Complaints
  • Wound Care
  • Transfer to Hospitals
  • Employee Tracking (number of new hires, number of resignations)

Our team meets quarterly to review the indicators and discuss options for improvement. The purpose of these meetings is to analyze the numbers and identify priorities, challenges with trying to improve issues from last quarter or share success when things have improved.  Indicators cover every aspect of running Kingsway. Each department has a number of indicators they use to track all areas of running the home.  From building maintenance indicators to number of falls, number of complaints, number of new hires, number of employees who quit etc. All of these help us maintain our vision and mission statement:
